Chic is an American musical group, formed in 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers , and bassist Bernard Edwards , the most successful and influential team of songwriters and producers of the disco music era.  Edwards and Rodgers composed, arranged, performed, and produced highly influential disco and R&B records for established artists such as Sheila and B. Devotion, Diana Ross, and Debbie Harry.

Nile Rodgers began his career as a studio musician and playing in the band of New York's famous Apollo Theater for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ben E. King, Nancy Wilson, Parliament, and Funkadelic . In 1970 he met the bassist Bernard Edwards and formed a rock band called The Boys with which they never achieved a record contract since the companies rejected them when they discovered that they were black; according to the executives of these companies, blacks could not play rock music.

In 1977 Rodgers and Edwards together with drummer Tony Thompson formed the group Chic , whose debut album that we present here was released on November 22, 1977, reaching number 27 on the pop charts and number 12 on the R&B charts, driven by the hits "Dance, dance, dance"

and "Everybody dance" .
