July 29, 1978 - 43 Years Ago Today: Barbra Streisand had the Hot Shot Debut at No. 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with her single, "Love Theme From 'Eyes Of Laura Mars' (Prisoner)." This Karen Lawrence/John Desautels-penned single was Streisand's 24th chart entry on the Hot 100 and it debuted just six weeks following her leadoff single and title track, "Songbird," which many felt the chart life of that single was cut short due to the release of this single. "Songbird" had peaked at No. 25 just one week prior to the debut of this single, but "Prisoner" had been released due to it being the leadoff single from the motion picture, "Eyes Of Laura Mars," which starred Faye Dunaway, which just happened to be produced by Jon Peters - Streisand's then-boyfriend of five years.
